I would be glad to share with you whatever my limited knowledge is on liver compromised babies. I am so sorry to hear about your situation. To find out that your sweet little baby is sick is devastating. Icky has liver issues. I would not recommend the ultrasound. It is not conclusive. There is another test that is used where they run a "dye" into the system and watch how it passes through the body. I can not think of the name but I will find out and let you know. Icky has been through so many tests...Just this week I finally flat out asked my vet if we could treat him as if he had MVD. I don't think he has shunt but I could be wrong. The vet said yes. I was so relieved. Icky takes lactulose 3 x day, marin for restoring healthy liver cells and antibiotic. In two days we have noticed such a great change. He was seizing all day long.
