hmm, that's a tough call then. still i would ask to see if it was possible for them to do it so that he doesn't need a another surgery in the future. If your vet has already faxed them the records, make sure to ask them if they see that he had problems under anesthesia before. there are a number of reasons why he could have done poorly the first time.

ex. The Chi i am fostering had two surgerys done on her fractured front leg. For the first surgery we gave her a pre-med that knocked her on her ass. While the drug was in effect her heart rate and blood pressure were Extremely low and it was worrying. as the drug wore off her stats got better. The second surgery a day later was done without the pre-med we gave her the day before.

does your vet know what exactly caused him to do poorly under anesthesia? did he tell you what happened? did his heart stop or did he just stop breathing?
