we tried all different types, dry and canned, combinations of dog food spinkled with some chicken or beef, but he was still finicky as heck!

he is now a healthy 6 months and about 6lbs, 6oz and has learned that he will get his treats, and some tasty (and healthy, we hope) table scraps, BUT, he knows that HIS food is his, and ours' is ours'.

he stays out of the kitchen (and waits eagerly in the living room!) while we eat.

if he's been a good boy (ya right, like "when isn't he"?) we give the OK and in he comes for some leftovers, but not to excess.

all in all, it's been a trying experience, but if you don't give in to the desire to feed him/her just for the sake of feeding him/her, your little loved one's appetite will take over, and he/she will eventually eat (from our experience).

mixing things up a little is probably a good idea, as well...

When you finally got Toto off of Human Food and back to dog food, what kind did you feed him? How long did it take for him to realize he wasn't going to get human food. Your post sounds like our Maggie. I'm afraid I have her really nasty rotten. I'm trying to get her off human food mixed with her dry food. For instance, boiled chicken; scrambled egg; cheese; broth, etc. I was told by her breeder, whatever you feed them, make sure you mix it with their dry food. Her dry food is Royal Canin 33 Mini Puppy. She also has some Innova, and Bil Jac Puppy. Her favorite is the Royal Canin. My pantry is busting at the seams too, with all the food we have bought. Well, now she won't eat the mixture, no matter what I mix with it. My trash can run-ith-over. Hope you can steer me away from the kitchen.
