Ip Allergy vs. staph infection

My Meghan (5 mos old) started biting her beautiful pink belly several weeks ago.....developed a rash....took her to vet who said it was a staph infection and put her on antibiotic and benadryl. She still has it so I returned to vet, who continued her on antibiotic and benadryl and wants her to remain on it daily for 7 days AFTER the little bumps have disappeared. I understand these skin irritations on Yorkies are common and if allergies, can follow the dog all its life and get worse as the dog gets older. I was also given medicated shampoo which I must leave on her for 7 minutes while wet. Not easy. Anyone have a super solution for getting a tiny pill down a Yorkies throat without making her hate you? She has already wised up to me hiding it in food, and she's not eating properly. With all the bad news about dog food, I have taken to preparing her home cooked meals....anyone have some great recipes you would like to share? She has also been placed on Amino Acid squirted on her food every other day, and a pet vita-tab. Sounds like an awful lot for a 5 month old baby.....but she is SO worth it.
Will look for replys with much gratitude....
