Definitely pain pills, hun! They will help not only with the pain (pain-"free-nees" speeds healing) but ALSO w/ the itching. Don't be hesitant in using them, you don't her hurting.
I would be cautious about pre-antibiotics unless her immune system is compromised.
Just like humans, we don't want to be overly zealous in prescribing antis bc THIS is why we have ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANT strains in our world right now.
