I think you're going to have a big boy indeed -- you'll be lucky if he stops at 10 pounds. But the fact that he exceeds the breed standard doesn't have anything to do with his ears. (I've seen plenty of YTers with "teapots" attest to this.)
My first Yorkie was standard in every way, a truly beautiful one in every way -- EXCEPT his ears flopped.
Ozzie, however, is 13.5 pounds -- almost twice the most Scruffy ever weighed -- and his ears have almost always been straight up. (And neither of Ozzie's parents weighed more than 7 pounds and both had straight ears. Scruffy's parents were tiny -- 4 and 6 pounds I think -- and their ears were both up, too.)
I hope your guy's will stand up for you! But stand or flop, 10 pounds or more -- you've got a keeper. (Assuming that's him in your avatar. What a sweetie.) |
