You can't tell whether a dog will be silk from day 1.....it's a wait and see process. Usually about 4 months of age you can see at the roots, the reflecting shine of the coat. Without seeing a pic of the dog, it is simply impossible to give you somewhat of an answer.
You have a true silk that breaks color, hopefully to the desired dark steel blue. You also can have a modified silk (a combination of silk/soft) or a coarser silk....
The true silk reflects light and is cool to the touch, even in the warm sun....
