You're not a failure. Tiger's ears were floppy, then one stood up, then it flopped down, then the other stood up -- they went up and down until he was about 7 months old, I think. And I couldn't do the taping on him, because Rhapsody would pull on his ears till she got it off.
What I did do that I thought made a difference was I massaged his ears everyday for several minutes per ear. (Normally while we were watching TV in the evenings, but every time I pet him throughout the day I'd do little massages.) I also kept his the hair on the top 3/4 of his ears shaved.
