A lot of us struggle with potty training. Our little girl is 7 mos. and does well about 75% of the time, but I caught her trying to sneak into the kitchen to poo yesterday. And she definitely knew where we wanted her to do it. I watched her go into the kitchen 3 times and I followed her each time. Each time, she circled the chair where her "accidents" usually occur and then looked at me and walked back out of the kitchen. Finally, with her tail tucked under, she walked towards the back-door where she is supposed to go to do her business outside, and I said "Outside?" and she waited for me to let her out, then went right to her potty pad on the deck and did her business.
I have no idea why she tries to get away with doing it elsewhere, but that is what we are struggling with right now. She used to go just next to the potty pad until we got a pad holder, which is a plastic platform with a fraime around it, so she can't confuse it with the floor. That has helped her to distinguish where the edge of the potty pad begins and the floor ends. |
