When I had Maddie spayed, about 4 days later her incision was very red and oozing blood and pus on one end. She, like Coco, just laid around and had no energy. I called the emergency vet that night and got a crabby lady vet. She acted upset that I'd bothered her, so I told her I'd be bringing Maddie in in the morn. I was there with Maddie at 8 and it was the same crabby vet...she was the vet on call for the weekend. She thought I was an overprotective Mom until she looked at the incision and the oozing. She did a swab of it and sure enough, it was infected. I paid my bill and when I got home, looked at it and she had charged me for a work in appointment. The following Monday I called the office and talked to the office manager and told her I thought that was out of line...it should have been considered after care. She was going to talk to my vet...not the crabby lady, but the one who is owner of the clinic. A couple of days later, I got a check in the mail for full payment, minus the cost of the meds.

I think it is awful that they wouldn't tend to the needs of Coco...without a charge of any kind! To send a dog home who is in need of care is beyond my understanding. I would almost guess she's got an infection...or the start of one, and the sooner it's treated, the better.

Good luck and I will be watching for updates!
