Please and I mean please talk to your vet and ask her/him about this it is a very serious congenital defect. My little guy jumped off my lap and broke his neck. This happend last july. He is still not walking but i work with him day and night. Oh my gosh excuse me. my heart is just breaking writing this to you. YOu will you please do me a favor. I have been through what you are going through. Please treat your baby like he is a china doll becuase with AAI they can break their necks just by doing the yes gesture. I know that surgery will help if it is done before a break and after a break. Please PM me if you would like I will talk to you more or I will give you my email address and you and I can talk. there is also places that will help with the cost of the surgery if you get denied from care credit. Babybear's surgery cost 3200 but that was because he was in the hospital for a few extra days before surgery. So please contact me and I will go more in depth with you.
If you would like more info on AAI (Atlantoaxial Instability) go to www.petplace.com and Type it in. That will give you a lot of info to read.
Thank you very much and I hope all goes well.
I was hoping you were going to post. As soon as I saw this post first thing that came to my mind was AAI.

As for possible funding try Imom.org Maybe they can help?
