Gordon is learning to sit and stay in puppy class.
Gordon tries to get out the kitchen door whenever it is open..so before I open the door , I put him in a sit and then tell him stay. He use to dart out the door as soon as it was open. I'm now working with him for a longer stay. I'm also working with him that he can't go out the door unless I go first. I don't release him from stay until I step out the door first.

It is scary when they run out the door, especially if they don't have the command " Come" down pat. We are also working on that command...

I was using a barrier , but because the kitchen door is constantly used by family members , it was a pain to deal with. All family members are now working with the sit and stay with him at the door.

So far it is working.
