That thing about docking the tails to keep their bottoms clean is not true...If that were true, they would dock maltese tails and shih-tzu tails. It's done purely for cosmetic reasons in today's day and age. Back in the day, it was done for work reasons, but not anymore. It's done because it is the standard according to AKC.
