Do you have any relatives that live nearby that you could trust with your baby? I could only leave mine with my mom. There isn't anyone else I'd feel comfortable with. I think I have more seperation anxiety than Howie does!
One time, we had a power outage in the middle of July for 2 days (i.e. no air conditioning in 90 degree weather!!) and finding a hotel period was a horrific feat.. but I found one that didn't allow pets and I snuck Howie in.
He was teeny tiny at that point and he pees on pads, so I don't see what the big deal is in a crunch! Maybe I'm a bad influence though!!
