I don't ever remember a time in my life when I didn't love/want Yorkies.
I remember as a young kid, maybe junior high age, walking to school with my friend and saying that when I got older I was going to own a Triumph convertable (two seats) and a Yorkie! (Coming from a family of 8 children the very thought of a vehicle which only seated two was AMAZING!)
I suppose I had read about Yorkies in a book somewhere/sometime, and that was the start of the fascination.
Fast forward LOTS of years...and a number of family dogs. I had a dog with whom I had absolutely fallen in LOVE (my Choochie...best dog that ever was). When I had to put him down, at the age of 17 after a very good life, I was devastated...went through one of those "NEVER AGAIN! I am never again going to have something that I love that much, because it hurts too much when you lose them!"
Well, within a couple of months I was SOOOOOO wanting a dog (in addition to my Chelsea, given to me by my brother when his new wife decided she wanted some other kind of dog...What can I say, too many men in my life are just totally whipped by their women!
). I decided if I was ever going to do it, now was the time. I could choose to have the dog I had always wanted/dreamed of. I went off to the regional kennel club show, and got a couple of recommendations regarding Yorkie breeder. In fact, when I first met Connie at the show, Maggie had just been born (about a week earlier).
I got the Mag-ster 4 years ago this fall...and then added to the group this year with Molly (Maggie's second cousin, actually...from the same breeder) in April. MacKenzie came to us just a week ago after being rejected by her supposed to be mother, the wife of a friend of mine.
So, I'm one of those who owns them with never having met one of them. The best part is even after nearly four years of ownership, they make me laugh every day! And I can't think of anything else in my life that I can say that about!
