Today was the day that 6.5-month-old Lexi was scheduled for spaying and teeth removal. I emotionally worked myself into the right frame of mind, asked the vet all the right questions (and received the right answers), loving said "I'll see you later, I love you, be strong", and courageously drove myself to work (instead of staying at home and worrying all day). The vet called an hour later to inform me that the pre-anesthetic blood work showed high blood sugar and he is concerned with her kidneys, hence he didn't feel comfortable with doing the surgery today. He mentioned the number 11.8 and told me that the normal high is 10.3 (blood sugar, or something to do with her kidneys...I'm not sure since I was shocked by what he was telling me). They took more blood to be analyzed overnight and as I'm typing this I'm waiting to follow her around the yard with a little tray - for the third time - to get a urine sample.
I'm so worried...I'm beside myself. Thanks for listening. I just had to get it off my chest.
Here's to another sleepless night.
