I remember years ago my mom got a poodle that was a nipper from a lady. That's why they rehomed her because she bit her child. Come to find out, the little girl was tormenting her. They would take a newspaper & swat her.
Lily was afraid everytime she heard a newspaper. We just gave her lots & lots of time to get adjusted. We never approached her, we waited for her to approach us. She was around 5 years old when my mom took her. She ended up being the best pooch ever. My mom would put her in the bedroom when the grandkids would come over. Lily was always very nervous around kids until I had mine. She loved my son as much as she loved me. She must have known the difference. She died when my son was around 6. He still remembers her, & talks about how sweet Lily was.
