I attended an AKC Seminar on correct breeding practices. This is how I understood the information;
The male can only get his female chromosome from his Mom. Therefore, it was recommended that we never breed Mother to Son because it was doubling up on the same chromosome. Creating genetic defects. Some of which may not be visable, but mental.
Please be up front with the new owners, so they may be able to avoid or at least understand problems that may arise.
Fault is neither here nor there, but spaying and neutering early will prevent any accidental breeding. IMO
