Yikes! I'm so glad your little one is unharmed!

Yes, things can turn in a second. I was so determined to socialize Ginger when we got her. Well, after bad experiences at the dog park, training, etc., with people not having control of their own dogs, she socializes ONLY with small dogs who I know. (and the neighbors gentle giant...they were puppies together, and really, they both think Ginger's the big dog).

When we're out walking and see someone coming along with a big dog, I either turn the other way, make mine "sit" and stand between them and the dog til it passes, or cross to the other side of the street (if we're walking the neighborhood and not on a path). I'm sure people think I'm nuts, but it only takes a second for a big dog to do serious damage.
