I don't think it could be ticks. There are quite a few of them and they are about the size of a pindot. They are pretty concentrated in the canal part of his ear and lessen as they go up towards the top of the ear.
He has an appointment for the vet on Thursday. Maybe I'll call the vet in the morning and explain what is going on and see if she thinks we should move it up.
