If you dont mind sharing with me please. I am planning my first litter soon and am trying to get an idea of how much time to take off.

I don't work, but maybe I can address this....the first two weeks after the whelping are the most crucial in a puppy's young life and that of the mother...monitoring and taking care of them is pretty much around the clock. Mothers have to be monitored to make sure that they are healthy and eating enough to supply milk. Even at weaning time and and when they're eating you must make sure puppies are getting at least 5 meals a day. In actuality I don't get much sleep the 1st month.
