Valid, valid points! Be very wary of 'free puppies', people get them for all sorts of things. You don't have to take the money, but at least ask for it in the ad. People will also get them and turn around and sell them for outrageous prices to just anyone. Also, they will sell them to research labs (I hear they love the smaller breeds).
When we got our Cosie, the lady was giving them away (chi's, no papers) but she put $150 in the ad and asked for references. Imagine how happy we were when she told us to keep our money to help take care of the puppy. Her hubby was a vet so she wasn't out anything on the litter. Sure wish I could find another deal like that. We joke that she was the best five bucks we ever spent (that's what the gas cost to go get her).
Everyone on here is just looking out for these little creatures that have no voice and rely on someone else to speak up for them.
