Yes, you are correct. It does say "not intended for small dogs" and that's b/c of the bones. Most pet owners don't smash up their dog's food like we paranoid Yorkie owners do! LOLOL
If you're not happy with the bones, you can take them right out. The meat falls right off the bone.
