I am just starting out with my first breeding coming up and I wonder how I do the 1 yr guar? If it is for life threatening, I dont see that being an issue. I was just thinking who knows, what if I do it once, decide its not for me and dont breed again? couldnt offer replacement pup.
I was wondering if I could just get some ideas how everyone else did this when they were just starting out??
Well, the way I would do the luxating patella is this: if the puppy is found to have it and the vet certifies that is most likely genetic and not caused from injury or stress on the bone, I would cover it but the documentation from the vet would have to be very clear and my vet (second opinion) would also have to certify it. i agree with mardlin about the things she mentioned IF found on the initial visit. but if they are found two, three weeks after the puppy leaves me, it is not covered simply because of the unpredictabilty of the disease and how easily puppies pick stuff up. My puppies go to the vet THE DAY BEFORE they leave so I know they arfe in perfect health when they leave me. Also, my puppies are not outside except vet trips in the car and they are never on the ground at my house. Again, it is a case by case situation if I would refund money, replace pup or help with vet bills.
