Losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through. When my first "mutt" died after 13 years, I actually resented other dogs for being alive. It took me years before I could even look at a picture of her. I have since had two other dogs - and have loved them just as much - though no two dogs are alike - you do love them just as much and for different reasons. You will move on and start remembering all the good times you had together - it just takes time - and everyone grieves differently.
