Well, I'll detail my experience, which was mixed.

***disclaimer: I'm not at all contesting that this product works great for SOME people. We all know that different products work differently for different hair, and you never know until you try. AND, it is highly likely that my yorkies' hair was not in as good condition as others' to begin with!***

I'm just entering year two as a yorkie owner, and so I'm one who is just STARTING to experiment with all the products out there! My goal this year is to improve the quality and appearance of my dogs' hair.

I have Kiki, who is thick and cottony, and Mazie, who is silky but "straggly" looking usually. So....very different hair needs!

When I read the raves here about MinkSheen, I had to try it. And I'm not sorry I did, but, I'm not sure my results are going to be as great as others have reported!

I washed Kiki first. I too (like the poster above) thought that the smell was like flea shampoo when I first put it on....but not as strong. Seems like you don't have to use a lot of this product, and like everyone says, it washes out quickly.

Afterwards her hair DEFINITELY seemed like it needed conditioner, and I had another new product there I was dying to use , but I wanted to see how the Mink Sheen did on its own, first.

I usually stop about halfway (or 3/4) through the drying process, and comb out their hair. The comb was very hard to pull through, and I felt like I might be breaking/damaging the hair.

That sd., I could definitely tell there was a "difference" with this product. Her hair LOOKED cleaner than it's ever looked before, if that makes sense. The colors all just popped out more, somehow.

Her cottony hair, sometimes reluctant to fall into a part, was now doing so easily....and the longer that I blowdried her, the softer she got. She definitely FELT softer than she had ever felt before....however....I am looking for a product that will help her hair lay down flatter....and this doesn't seem to be it. Oddly, the ROOTS do seem silkier than ever....but the ends of her hair are very puffy and frizzy and fly-away looking.

Onto Mazie! When I first got her out of the tub, her hair looked VERY tangly! And again, the combing out seemed to almost "tear" her hair. But by the end, she was, like Kiki, the softest I have ever felt her, and looked and smelled particularly fresh and clean. And in her case, the puffy/fluffy effect was a GOOD one, as her hair is thin. As soon as my son saw her, he said, "Has Mazie finally gained some weight?!"

So so far, this product definitely seems to work better on my silky coated girl than my cotton coated. But, I just *now* washed them....I'll be interested to see if results change at all after a day or two, and with more comb-outs.

(and I AM just using a metal comb. Should I be using a bristle brush for better shine results? I'm not really seeing the shine happening.)

I'm definitely not DISpleased with the product....I just think the system may need some tweaking, for us. Next time I think I will at least use a conditioning product during the blowdry/comb out process. Usually I use the Cowboy Magic, but I also just got something from Plush Puppy I need to try.

So....not a whole-hearted thumbs up from me yet, but, not thumbs down by any means, either!
