And tape worms are from fleas. All is treatable, but I would be concerned about parents and what condition they were in. Before you purchased the pup did you request photos of sire and dam? I understand pups getting car sick, but not throwing them into dehydration. I would think the breeder after showing vet written confirmation would pay ALL expenses, because obviously they delivered an unhealthy pup. But then again what condition are the parents in? Just curious wanting to educate myself.

In very young puppies stresses such as parasite burdens plus a car trip with vomiting and/or diahrrea creating fluid loss and electrolyte imbalance and a new home all add up to a good chance of a very sick puppy or dead one.
Puppies should be free of all parasites and well on their way after weaning and a good weight before they should be adopted out to a new home.
Yes diahrrea and throwing up can caused dehydration very quickly in a small dog and even moreso a little puppy. It can make it worse if they then drink too much water as it will often increase vomiting and will throw off the electrolytes and balances of minerals such as potassium/sodium even more. Usually a subq fluid either under the skin or a drip in severe cases is required. Even in adult dogs prolonged fluid loss can be critical in these little breeds, the smaller the dog the higher the risk for permanent damage or death.
