If she is messing all over the house - then the answer to your question is - YES!

As Cesar would say "Rules, Boundries, Limitations"

Think about it -the pup has no idea what you want from it. The only thing he knows is "I need to potty". If you do not set rules, boundries and limitations the pup will potty wherever he feels is best for him. You need to decide what the rules are, then figure out how to enforce them. You cannot expect a puppy to know what you want - you have to work with them.

Puppies shouldnt have free run of the house until they understand all the rules and respect them.

There are some great plans for crate training on this site - go to search and read some of the plans then figure out what will work best for you and implement it. Be consistant and with some work on your part your pup will be trained.
