You are correct with the grooming, the longer hair underneath that you refer to as a rug is actually called a skirt-tee hee. I have my spaniel professionally groomed about every 6-8 weeks & I brush her 1-2x week with a slicker brush. I clean her ears once a week & I am trying to brush every other day becasue she has bad teeth. And yes thats her picture in the avatar!
