My Tobey is exactly 4 months old today. I got him when he was 7 weeks old and I too, (mostly cuz I am a first time puppy mom) was unsure of the freedom to let him have. He is alone two days a week for 6-7 hours. until about 3 weeks ago he was baby-gated in our kitchen where his potty pad is, had a pillow and towel to lay on, and food and water. He REALLY didn't like it and I felt so bad leaving him. Now he has full reign of the kitchen and living room but we close all the doors to the other rooms. He seems to like that much better because he loves to look out the front window. He still doesn't like us leaving, just this week he's figured out when i am searching for my keys in my purse that means I am almost ready to leave and he starts whining. so sad!! My advice is that you have to trust that your pup is potty trained well enough to go on the pads EVERY time, and that he won't chew up your house.
