Yes, I'm sure it's bound to hurt some considering how big ya'll say the needle is. And yes, I will check with my local shelter. I remember now that when my poodle wandered off into the sports park by our house about 2 years ago, someone reported him and he was picked up. When we went to the "pound" to get him, they waived the fee (for whatever they call it) in exchange for us letting them microchip him. I thought that was a pretty good trade. I didn't watch them do his chip so I don't know how he reacted to it regarding the pain level. So anyway, I know they do it there and I have a friend that works there so I'll check into it real soon.
