I had trouble too with our first Yorkie.. I didnt know to brush before the bath and Ellie Mae got terrible! I took her to the groomer the first time and asked a ton of questions.. From then on I brushed and combed her daily.. If the knots were bad I did a little at a time... I also use a conditioner now in a spay bottle mixed with a little water.. Just to make them damp.. that seems to help alot as well and helps the hair not to break.
