I'm no breeder, but from what I've read there really is no way to predict the adult weight or a puppy. Anyway, I don't think it's that big of a deal. If your family does not accept her for being 8 pounds rather then 3, then shame on them - that't their loss.
When I got Tucker I was told he'd be 3-4 pounds. I thiught, great - I'll love a little guy. He's almost 6 months and 3.5 pounds now and I wish he would get bigger!!! He can't climb on anything and I constantly have to pick him up. The way I look at it, the bigger the better - more to love!
