I cant say that i'm an expert but there are many here who will give you more advice. I have however read enough on here to know that ur pup is completely normal. My baby does the same thing. They can be very disciplined and intelligent but we have to face the facts...they are dogs and not just dogs but puppies. All he wants is for you to play with him. I get the same thing allll the time. She doesnt care what i'm doing. All she knows is that its time to play and biting my feet is the easiest way to get my attention. I think iyour right in saying "no" but honestly i'v been working on this for almost 6 months and i gotta tell you....when she wants to play she bites my feet...always has, and always will.
I also think the growling and barking is normal when playing. Thats how dogs communicate...unless he is agressive i think he's just playing.
