In my opinion it depends on the female!

Swimming: Dogs recovering from: orthopedic surgery, spinal injuries, hip and elbow Dysphasia, ligament strain and sprains, spaying, Caesarian section and many other ailments, as well as after whelping to tighten the muscles back up - all find swimming to be a gentle way to rebuild their fitness.
You can fill your bathtub up and have her swim starting at 3 min then gradually moving it up depending on their situation.
