Sometimes I think male dogs are "moma's" boys and female dogs are "daddy's" girls". If you would like your little guy to love his daddy the same as he loves you, then start letting the daddy feed, brush, hold, walk and so on this little guy and you stay kind of out of the picture a little more. Then you both share 50-50 with everything after about a month of this. It sound like he has not been able to bond with your husband because as you said "Toto has been my constant companion". Give dad equal oppertunity.
