Well... I just got back from the Vet's. Sam's diarrhea was getting worse and although he was playing and eating well, I just knew something wasn't right. Sam tested positive for Giardia and Coccidia (the vet said that they are often found together). He said that most likely he came with this in his system. He seemed really good when he got here, but most likely the stress of the plane flight and new home, caused a flare up. He also has not gained any weight and is currently at 2 lbs 5 oz at 13 weeks. He also has a mild infection in one of his ears that is being treated with drops. I have already contacted the breeder that no doubt sold me a sick puppy but at this point, I just want Sam to be better. I don't want to return him, we love him sooo much. I just want a healthy dog. My dog Max, lived to be 19, and never so much had a vet visit that wasn't an annual check up. I was very lucky.

Sam in being treated with Albon and Precor (spelling?) for his parasites. Does anyone have any experience with this. How long until he gets better?? Will he have long lasting effects? Does this mean he won't be a healthy dog? I am so worried. Also, we can't really afford constant vet bills. Sam is on a special diet now for about a week and I really want him to thrive. He is still playful and is not dehydrated at all. Drinks and eats fine. Any advice???
