Microchip...is yours? How many of us members have their loved ones microchipped? I got my dogs done this past Saturday. Our local Adopt-A-Pet was doing them for $15.00. Since Saturday, they've gone up to $25.00.
Now, I know that there has been some study and that some dogs/cats have developed cancerous lumps at the injection site. However, with all of the dog thefts going on lately, I thought it would be a good idea.
I was told that every vet here in town, along with the animal shelter and the sheriff's department, has a scanner to scan animals. My only problem is that I could pick up a stray, say that I have had it for several months and never be doubted by my vets. How many of these vets actually scan each and every animal that comes in to see if there is a microchip and then, how many will actually call the company to see if the person that brought in the dog is actually the person that the dog is registered to?
Anyway, I hope that I never have to report another dog missing...but if I do, at least there will be some way to identify them. |
