As for the female, if she got out and was roaming the neighborhood who's to say she wasn't bred with some other dog now. A large dog could've gotten a hold of her. I hope her owner is thinking about that, and watches carefully if she does become pregnant. A big puppy could kill the poor baby girl. I just can't believe that your friend would put her baby outside and not watch her, a dog could very well find a way in a yard when they smell the scent of a female in season. That's just scary.
