Try calling your local humane society - if someone found him they may have contacted them or turned him in. Call all the vet offices in the area too - that way if someone did/does find him and they contact the vets they already have info on him. And if someone tries to keep him the vets office has a heads up. Then canvas the area - walk and call him. Take treats with you. Knock on doors - I wouldnt stop til he came home.
As for the woman you left him with - She has a responsibility to help you find your dog. Hopefully she will walk her neighborhood talking to neighbors to get him back to you.
