Animal Smiley 019 Homemade dog food

I totally understand your fear about the recall. Alpo & jerky treats were also just recalled as well as Pounce for cats. I have a special interest in canine nutrition. I do not like Iams/Eukaneuba, Nutro, Purina, Science diet etc. They all have corn and/or wheat. Wheat is the problem with the recall. Dogs do not need wheat, corn, or soy. Dogs are herbivores. Someone posted a home made recipe which was good. Just remember if you are going to do that you should switch the protein sources occasionally as well as the veggies. Its a good idea to supplement with good vitamins like the missing link because if you keep feeding the same thing they can become deficiant in some vitamins.
Another option is to purchase a dehydrated all natural organic dog food and just add a protein source. I like Dr. Harveys canine health, it has everything you need in it, just add cooked protein source. Dr.Harveys.com
As far as dry kibble I like Wellness, Innova, Canidae, Newmans. These foods are not available in Petco/Petsmart, only at smaller family owned pet stored which I support. I am not a veterinarian so if you need more help consult a veterinary nutritionist. Your dog will not know he is getting "people food" as long as you eat first, then put your dogs food in his bowl! Good luck!!
