if you buy a pup from a registered AKC kennel, you have to use the kennel name unless you have permission from the breeder to do otherwidse. the kennel name I use is not registered since i don't show so i told the buyers that they could name them anything they want to but would appreciate it if they use my kennel name. now, this last litter, i did what is called a full litter registration. meaning that i named each dog in the litter and registered the litter and individual dogs at the same time. the buyer will get the AKC certificate and all they do is send in the owner transfer. The name cannot be changed. This gets my kennel name out there should the dog be shown. but, you can give them any call name you wish.
