I have both as well.
The Kirby is very heavy but I like it because I can shampoo and it is is easy. I think its about 12 years old!
I just got the Dyson (purple) and so far I like it. My 2 reasons is, it is lighter and I really love that you can pull up the attachment hose in an instant without having to stop vacuuming, take the vac apart to attach a hose! It's already there....
However, the instructions are very vague?? Did anyone find that too?
