Oh yes, and then they carried on for many, many, many years. She plotted all year long. They were just 'silly' jokes, but I guess when you are young they were as good as they could get. The one I will always remember was:
She borrowed a freinds car "A beat up old station wagon' to be exact. It was my 17th B-day - the age in NJ when one could get their D.L. - and she parked it in the driveway, with ballons, etc...the whole nine yards...well, my school bus (with me on it and a whole bunch of other kids) drives down my block
