Scolding puppies for going poo in the wrong place will only make them think they are doing something bad and will try to hide from you when they are going. So you will only make it worse.
The only thing you can do is watch the puppy carefully to catch her in the act. We tether our puppy when in the house with the leash on ourselves, using the extending leash. That way she doesn't get to go hide to do her business. And when she starts taking the position, we rush her outside to go and then give her tons of praise and treats afterward, like she'd done it all on her own. That way she'll figure "Oooooh! Poo outside = treats!" That's when the lightbulb goes off in their heads and they actually "get" it! |
