We just very recently switched ours from Canidae to Nature's Variety. Both of these foods are great, but have found NV to be a little better (in regards to their ingredients). There is a website that you can actually grade pet food. When my hubby and I tested these two foods, Canidae scored 112 and NV scored 129. Both scored above 100% so that's great!!! Since switching foods, the tear stains with our Maltese mix are now gone.
You really can't go wrong with either food, though.
