I have done both. Adopted from puppy/kittenhood and adopted adults. It really all depends on the love that the animal rec'd before they come to you. My Chin was already 9 mos. when we got him. He fit right in as if he had been there forever. Believe it or not but my Bijou (puppymill baby) was the hardest to adapt. I have such a wild and crazy house and it appears she was used to very little human interaction and noise, other than kennel noises. I guess I am one of those old school people where anything is cured with enough love.
