I'm one of those people that picks the runt of the litter - the one that seems to be outside the circle of acceptance.
Of course, they have to sing to my heart. I like to hold them first and once you find one that looks you right in the eyes, then you are guaranteed to melt. They have to sing to your heart. You'll know.
