We are successful with potty pads, thank gosh! We had trouble for awhile, but then we got some help and did the following...

We picked the one place in the house that we wanted them to go to the bathroom, and then we COVERED the entire floor with puppy pads! If they had an accident (if we caught them) we'd hurry and say NO really dramatic pick them up and run them to the place they are supposed to potty that the whole floor is covered and say "Potty HERE!". They had their times of accidents and it took some time and consistency to catch on. Everyday you are supposed to remove 1-2 pads depending on the size of the room, and the consistency of the dogs, but leave the pads they have used. They always seemed to choose pads that were in a certain spot too. It seemed like no time for us after this, plus we did this at my parents house while we were there over Christmas break and it worked great. They also go outside sometimes, but only when we are on walks. When we block them in one room while we are gone they never potty in there. Any other time they have free run of the house and they always use the pads. We do have accidents here and there, but I think everyone does.
