They usually come into season twice a year, at roughly 6 month intervals, though it isn't set in stone as each bitch has her own rhythm.
A season lasts roughly 3 weeks, though again it can vary a little.

Some bitches have quite heavy seasons, others lighter ones as far as actual discharge goes. I know I keep repeating myself but they can vary quite a bit. Some bitches you hardly know are in season, they have light bleeds & keep themselves very clean. Others can be really heavy, too much for them to keep completely clean & can stain furnishings. One of mine has such heavy discharge that she sometimes drips.

Spaying will completely stop her having seasons, as they completely remove the womb there is nothing to discharge from. It's exactly the same as when a woman has a hysterectomy, no more periods.
